Africa-Press – Cape verde. The African Independence Party of Cape Verde (PAICV) considers that the Government has been selling ideas that are not implemented. Paula Moeda spoke to the press, this Tuesday morning, in anticipation of the parliamentary day that begins this Wednesday.
“What is said about continuing to sell ideas and not being implemented, who has not heard the promises of 2016 renewed in 2021, about 8 years ago and still to be fulfilled. What does the government have to say about the Praia National Hospital, still a promise, and the dismantled Trindade psychiatric hospital and the family doctors and nurses, a promise eight years ago, created expectations and have remained expectations to this day”, he stated. Paula Moeda considers that the health sector faces many challenges and there are several promises that were made and remained unfulfilled and therefore asks “how can we reach the level of health and well-being recommended in the Sustainable Development Goals?”.
“With a portfolio of unfulfilled promises, how will we reach the level of health and well-being recommended in the Sustainable development objectives. We are aware that development requires well-articulated policies that affect the entire health chain, specific policies such as, for example, improvements in access to health services are the minimum required”, concluded Paula Moeda
Moeda stated that his party welcomes the certification of Cape Verde as a malaria-free country and stressed that this is the result of work that has been developed over decades.
The second plenary session of January begins this Wednesday, this time the debate will be with the Prime Minister on the topic “Health and Development”.
