Africa-Press – Cape verde. The PAICV wants an explanation from the government about what it considers to be the shelving of the tender for asphalting the Calheta – Tarrafal road in Santiago. The tender was launched in January of this year, but the winning company was disqualified for allegedly failing to comply with the terms of reference of the procedure.
MP Eveline Ramos does not understand why the project was not awarded to the company that came in second place.
“We hope that the government explains to us why it shelved the project, because if a company won and did not meet the conditions to participate in the tender and ended up being disqualified due to complaints, in a normal scenario it should continue with the next company in the ranking. That is why we do not understand this government’s stance of shelving the project”, she pointed out.
The parliamentarian elected by Santiago Norte is counting on the MPs of the MpD to obtain answers.
“I hope to be able to count on the deputies, even though they are from the MpD, because I believe that the main cause here should be the development of Santiago Norte. We must come together so that what was promised for the northern region is fulfilled and it can become part of the development circuit of Cape Verde”, he stated.
The Calheta-Tarrafal road is 28 kilometres long. Its asphalting should complete the ring road on the island of Santiago.
