PAICV denounces the Government’s “persecutive and discriminatory” stance towards the chambers led by the party

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Regional Political Commission of Santiago Sul of the PAICV declared today, in the city of Praia, that the Government led by the MpD has maintained a “persecutive and discriminatory” stance towards the municipal councils of that political force.

The accusation was made by the president of the Regional Political Commission of Santiago Sul (CPRSS) of the PAICV, Carlos Tavares, in statements to the press, on the sidelines of the regional assembly that aims to analyze the political situation and functioning of the party structure in the largest political region of the country. country.

The person responsible reaffirmed that, despite the difficulties faced by PAICV authorities throughout this mandate, due to the alleged “discrimination and persecution” of Government of the MpD, they have demonstrated a “good performance”, which is why he believes they deserve another vote of confidence from the people.

“Those who are currently playing their role will continue to be candidates for the next elections because they are doing a good job ”, he stressed

The municipal councils led by PAICV, he reinforced, have had a positive performance with interventions in terms of social reality, but also physical to improve the environment and infrastructures, at an urban and economic level, supporting entrepreneurial initiatives, especially among the youth and women, which is why, he declared, “they will deserve new trust from the population of these three municipalities”.

“Nevertheless, the difficulties we have faced throughout this mandate and that we are facing also derive from having had a persecuting Government, which did not help our municipal councils, discriminated against our municipal councils with double standards, just because whoever is in charge of the municipal councils is not of the same political color as the Government”, stressed Carlos Tavares.

According to the president of the CPRSS, the demands of the mayors of Praia, São Domingos and Ribeira Grande de Santiago are fair, when they make a complaint regarding the Government’s stance.

“Because we understand the fact that they have to live every day with a Government that, in addition to being incompetent, is a Government that has discriminated against our municipal councils. A Government that persecutes and discriminates against our municipal councils, but that also does not assume its responsibilities”, he maintained.

The Government, accused Carlos Tavares, has done “nothing” in what is the “largest” demographic and economic political region in the country, with the greatest contribution to the national GDP and with a relevant role in terms of national development.

“The Government made a set of promises in terms of creating economic and social infrastructure, it said it would invest in fishing, that we would have a new fishing port, a new fishing complex fishing, that we would have a Praia-Tarrafal expressway, that we would have a national reference hospital in Praia, that we would have concert halls for three thousand people, an industrial park, that we would have improvements in Porto da Praia ”, he recalled.

He lamented the fact that in terms of structuring investments, the Executive has “nothing” to present to the South region, which has become “completely forgotten and abandoned”.

“Not even the basics can this Government guarantee, the water problem we have in the region, the electricity supply problems that expose the incompetence, the The Government’s inability to provide the structuring and basics for our region. As for employment, the Government has long left what was said unsaid, pulling its horse out of the rain in relation to 45 thousand jobs and for our region it was essential that the Government kept that promise (…), he stressed.

Meanwhile, he made it known that the PAICV local authorities are ready to, “with confidence and strength, face future battles” and win the local elections in Santiago Sul again, but also to continue to give political combat to this Government which, in In his opinion, “it no longer serves” Santiago Sul and Cape Verde.

“This fight we are going to give is also to quickly replace this Government with a more supportive Government that can help our municipal councils and the population”, declared the PAICV leader in Metropolitan region of the city of Paraia.
