PAICV urges the Government to return the money it collected from the INPS to fight covid-19

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The president of the African Independence Party of Cabo Verde (PAICV, opposition) today urged the Government to return the money collected from the National Institute of Social Security (INPS), as part of the fight against Covid-19.

Rui Semedo made this request in statements to the press, on the sidelines of a meeting with the INPS board of directors, held as part of the preparation for the debate on the state of the nation.

“From our point of view (…), the Government must find some way to return the money, even if it is phased and deferred in time”, said Rui Semedo, arguing that this situation jeopardizes the sustainability of the social security system.

On the other hand, the leader of the largest opposition party said that INPS services have to be improved, especially in terms of internal transfer of patients, arguing that there are mechanisms that need to be refined in the transport of patients between islands.
