PAICV warns of water scarcity in Praia

Africa-Press – Cape verde. Emelena Alfama, spokesperson for the South Santiago Regional Policy Commission (CPRSS), denounced, at a press conference held this morning, the situation of water shortages experienced in several neighborhoods of the capital and asked ADS for explanations.

Alfama listed neighborhoods such as Várzea, Achada Mato, Txadinha, among others, that have suffered from irregular water supply, stating that there are still cases in which the supply is interrupted for a week.

A situation that, according to her, has left the residents distressed and has conditioned the satisfaction of the population’s basic needs and the development of their economic activities.

Debt disputes between Electra and ADS

“The CPRSS wants to know the reasons behind the problem and specifically whether the irregularity and scarcity in the water supply is related to the debt disputes between Electra and ADS” were some of the questions left by this source, directed to the ADS

The PAICV, in the South Santiago region, urged the authorities with powers in this matter, namely ADS and Electra and “politically” the Government, to “take more consideration of the population’s demand, and correct this situation”.

He also underlined that the situation is “delicate and water is a matter of paramount importance and that deserves special attention from the authorities”.

It should be noted that A NAÇÃO online tried to contact and listen to ADS about what is at the origin of this shortage, but without success.
