Africa-Press – Cape verde. The MP and president of the African Independence Party of Cabo Verde (PAICV-opposition party), Rui Semedo, defended on Tuesday, in Parliament, the resumption of “stopped public works” to have an impact on public employment.
Rui Semedo, who spoke this afternoon in the parliamentary debate with the Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva, on the theme “Governing in times of crisis”, said that public employment, only through the works started, is insufficient and does not solve the problems raised by the recent crisis caused by the war in Europe.
“The people in the countryside need public fronts to be able to have access to employment, to have access to income. The unemployment has increased in a general way, the job offers has decreased considerably, so in the countryside the most vulnerable people need public employment, then the Government cannot take long, no time for people to go through extreme difficulties these days”, he stated.
Rui Semedo said that right now people need the State, and the State has never been needed as much as now and the Government has never been needed as much as it is needed right now.
