Parliament: Transport’s role in the economy is one of the highlights of the last parliamentary session in January

Africa-Press – Cape verde. Parliament meets again today, highlighting the monthly debate with the Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva, with the theme “The transport’s role in the economy and regional integration”, proposed by UCID.

For this ordinary session, the Movement for Democracy (MpD, ruling party) considers that there will be “certainly a consensus” around the fundamental and central nature of transport in economies in general and, particularly, in Cabo Verde as an island and archipelagic country, which needs to ensure the connection between the islands and for the world.

According to the spokesman for the parliamentary days of the party, Luís Carlos Silva, it is necessary to build a “great” financial effort to acquire a functional service with regularity, quality and safety of air and sea transport at domestic level as international.

He recalled that, with the entry of the MpD Government in 2016, the implementation of a new political vision for the sector that “worked successfully until 2019” was initiated, but which was conditioned by the pandemic crisis which drove the departure of the operator responsible for the domestic flights and the Cabo Verde Airlines strategic partner.
