Ulisses Correia e Silva was speaking at the start of the debate with the Prime Minister, in this second Plenary Session in October, whose topic is “Development in rural areas”.
The leader of the Cape Verdean Executive said that his team has invested in resilience and sustainability based on the transition from traditional subsistence agriculture and livestock to more productivity, more income and market orientation.
Another bet, according to Correia e Silva, is a water strategy based on diversifying irrigation sources, as well as accelerating the energy transition, expanding integrated hydro-agricultural projects and improving accessibility and mobility for goods and people.
Ulisses Correia e Silva also spoke about the development of fisheries and fishing communities in the implementation and development of rural tourism, the elimination of extreme poverty and the reduction of absolute poverty, the Local and Regional Development strategy oriented towards territorial cohesion and social cohesion and the increased capacity to respond to emergency situations.
