Africa-Press – Cape verde. The parliamentary leader of the MpD (power) defended this Wednesday, in the City of Praia, that the Government was right in creating the Competition Authority (AdC) and highlighted that it is necessary to create the conditions so that it can function fully.
Parliamentary leader of the MpD says that the Government was right in creating the Competition Authority. “We have matters that this authority takes care of and must continue to take care of, such as the issue of freight forwarders, communication and it is a case of ensuring that international and competition laws are being complied with”, he said in statements to the press, on the sidelines of a visit by deputies from the Movement for Democracy (MpD) to the Competition Authority, as part of the preparation of the debate on the situation of Justice.
“Justice is quite comprehensive, it doesn’t just involve judges and repression by the police and analyzes of crimes, so I think the Government did well and now it is necessary to accelerate the conditions so that it can function fully”, he pointed out.
However, he said that they are still in the implementation phase and do not have the necessary number of staff to fully carry out their functions, “but it is already working”.
“There are already some staff and they have been dealing with competition issues, which have a lot to do with justice. It is necessary to work and influence the creation of conditions so that it can work, especially with other authorities, regulatory agencies and other sovereign bodies”, he noted.
Regarding the justice debate, he said that the MpD is “optimistic” and recognized that there is still a lot to do in this sector, especially on the issue of slowness.
“Justice is very broad and involves several sovereign bodies. The Government has been investing and budgets for the sector have increased year after year”, said Paulo Veiga, warning, however, that “justice implies the involvement of everyone”.
As part of the debate on the situation of justice, the MpD has on its agenda, later today, a visit to the Orlando Pantera Socio-Educational Center and on Thursday, 26th, the deputies have on their agenda a meeting with the general director of Prison Services and Social Reinsertion and a view of the Praia Central Prison.
National deputies will meet this Friday, the 27th, for a debate with the Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva, on the “Income and Price Policy” and the situation of Justice.
