Africa-Press – Cape verde. Numbers were released today by the National Statistics Institute. Annual GDP growth was 5.1% and in the last quarter of last year it was 6.6%.
According to the Quarterly National Accounts report, relating to the last three months of last year, GDP “recorded, in year-on-year terms, a positive variation of 6.6% in volume”.
INE states that on the supply side, “Gross Value Added (GVA), at base prices, showed a positive year-on-year evolution of 7.7%, highlighting for this purpose the activities of Transport and storage, Accommodation and catering , Information and communication activities, Financial and insurance activities and Public administration”.
The document also states that taxes net of subsidies on products “showed a positive year-on-year evolution of 0.1%. On the expenditure side, this variation resulted from an increase in final consumption and exports”.
In annual terms, in 2023, GDP recorded a growth of 5.1% in volume, after a historic increase seen in 2022 (17.4%).
