Ponte Sul/Chã de Mato gains community library

Africa-Press – Cape verde. Ponte Sul/Chã de Mato, Porto Novo, will, from today onwards, have a community library, installed within the scope of the “VOÁ MA MIM” (fly with me) project, which consists of the creation of community libraries in Santo Antão.

This project is part of an existing partnership between Porto Novo City Council, Associação Junt’amor (Portugal) and Associação Literária de Santo Antão and foresees, later this year, the installation of four community libraries on this island.

A note from the Porto-Novense city council explains that the “VOÁ MA MIM” project, which aims to create community libraries in Santo Antão, was “designed and developed” by the Junt’amor association “as a means of promoting reading for everyone”, on this island.

“The idea is to create small structures on public roads, and in central locations, in order to have interaction and easy access to the book”, said the same source.

As part of this project, the city of Porto Novo started to have its community library since the beginning of September, followed by the town of Ponte Sul/Chã de Mato, with the remaining two libraries being installed in Paul and Ribeira Big.
