Porto Novo: City Hall surveys material and intangible cultural heritage

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The City Hall of Porto Novo, through the culture portfolio, proceeds, at this time, the survey of the material and intangible cultural heritage existing in the municipality, informed the City Hall of Porto Novo.

In terms of existing heritage, citizens have been alerting to the situation of the former military barracks, built in 1932, whose facilities are, in their view, in a state of abandonment, crying out for recovery works.

Since its decommissioning more than 40 years ago, the former barracks has served as shelter for a dozen families.

The Government transferred, in 2018, this heritage to the City Hall of Porto Novo, which promised to preserve the front and transform the facilities into an administrative village to host some unconcentrated services of the State, still without its own facilities.
