João Lima told Inforpress that there has been no public employment for some time in Lagoa da Ribeira das Patas, one of the most socially problematic communities in the municipality of Porto Novo, which is why he is calling for a work front to be opened in that area to help the families.
This community leader said that agricultural activity in Lagoa da Ribeira das Patas has been a failure due to the scarcity of spring water and the lack of rain, which is why many families have faced serious difficulties, calling for the opening of public employment.
The Women’s Association of Lagoa da Ribeira das Patas has also been raising awareness about the difficult social situation in that area, where unemployment affects practically the entire population, with a particular impact on female heads of households.
Also, the Association for the Integrated Development of Ribeira das Patas, through its president, Arlindo Delgado, has been drawing attention to the situation of many families in this town who are suffering from hardship due to unemployment.
