Africa-Press – Cape verde. Scheduled to be delivered today to fishing operators, the work on the fish market in Porto Novo, Santo Antão, will only be delivered on August 6, informed the City Council.
The mayor of Porto Novo, Aníbal Fonseca, confirmed the opening of the fish market in the first week of August, the date on which the fishmongers, who are selling their fish in the streets, will have a space “dignified and equipped” for the exercise of its activity.
The Porto Novo Fishermen’s and Fishmongers Association praised the market’s impact on the “improvement of working conditions” for fishmongers, but also for street vendors and fishermen.
Market receives latest equipment
The fish market is receiving the latest equipment and the delivery of this space, which was supposed to take place today, was postponed to the 6th of August, but the reasons were not advanced by the owner of the work.
The municipality guaranteed that fishing operators will have at their exhibition “a good fish market, with stalls and cold rooms to better develop their activities”.
The market will have 27 stalls for the sale and treatment of fish, in addition to refrigeration equipment.
