Africa-Press – Cape verde. Fishermen in the Tarrafal de Monte Trigo, Porto Novo, in Santo Antão, have no reason to celebrate the national day dedicated to the class (February 5), at a time when fishing in this community “had been completely forgotten”.
Who says so is the president of the Fishermen’s Association of Tarrafal of Monte Trigo, Isaías Pires, who reaffirmed the complaints he has been making in recent years, the fishing in this locality has been “forgotten by the local and central authorities”.
Isaías Pires told Inforpress that, despite the “constant complaints”, the fishing sector in this area “does not receive support either from the City Hall of Porto Novo or from the Government”, giving as an example the fact that Tarrafal de Monte Trigo is, at this time, without conditions for the conservation of fish.
“The ice machine stopped working. There are no conditions for the conservation of fish in Tarrafal de Monte Trigo. This shows that the fisheries in this area have not received support either from the City Hall of Porto Novo, nor from the Government”, said this responsible.
