In Ribeira das Patas, the farmers’ representative, Arlindo Delgado, told Inforpress that the sugarcane harvest and the consequent brandy production are going “smoothly”, despite “some difficulty” in terms of labour.

Also, in Ribeira da Cruz, another valley where a lot of brandy is produced, the units are operating regularly, waiting until May to complete the grogue production in this locality in the countryside of the municipality of Porto Novo, said the farmer Marcelino Medina.

Similarly, in Tarrafal de Monte Trigo, the producer Graciano Évora told Inforpress that, despite the wind in January on this area, with high losses in the sugarcane plantations, the period of grogue industrialization, which began in January, is taking place without any constraints.
