Africa-Press – Cape verde. The technical unit of the programme to promote rural socio-economic activities (Poser) in Santo Antão has been urging farmers on this island to hold fairs as a way to give greater visibility to local products.

Through the Poser website, the technical unit, which has periodically conducted follow-up visits to farmers in the various agricultural areas, said it has been proposing to farmers “the idea of holding promotion fairs to give greater visibility to local products”.

For Poser technicians in Santo Antão, product fairs can be an “important outlet” for agricultural surpluses.

Until the COVID-19 emergence, Santo Antão periodically received several agricultural and livestock products fairs, being to highlight the agricultural fair in this island, promoted every year in June in Porto Novo, on the occasion of the São João festivities, patron saint.
