Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Government has already launched a new public tender for the construction of the Ribeira das Patas health center, in the municipality of Porto Novo, which takes place 17 months after the laying of the first stone of this project.
Through the notice of the Special Projects Management Unit of the Ministry of Finance, the Government decided to launch the competition again for the construction of the Ribeira das Patas health center, the first stone of which was laid in June 2022, in an event chaired by the then minister of Health, Arlindo do Rosário.
As Inforpress found on site, the launch of the new competition has provoked the most diverse reactions from the people of Porto Novo, who, for almost a year and a half, had been complaining about the delay in starting the work, initially budgeted at 105 thousand contos, hoping that “ this time” the infrastructure will be built.
The notice says that construction companies have until January 5th to submit proposals for the execution of the contract, which will last ten months from the date of assignment of the project, financed by the World Bank within the scope of the covid-19 project. Emergency Responds.
According to the document, the Government decided to apply part of the funds from this project to the construction of the Ribeira das Patas health center, which could be completed by the end of next year or early 2025.
The Minister of Health, Filomena Silva, recently confirmed in Parliament that the Ribeira das Patas health center will go ahead in 2024, at a time when there were many complaints from the most diverse quarters of Porto Novo society regarding the delay in starting the work.
The Association for the Integrated Development of Ribeira das Patas has constantly expressed its concern regarding the delay in the construction of this health infrastructure, which, according to the representative of this association, Arlindo Delgado, should already be in operation.
Porto Novo, with just over 16 thousand inhabitants, has a network of infrastructures integrated by a health center located in the city of Porto Novo and five health posts distributed throughout the towns of Tarrafal de Monte Trigo, Ribeira das Patas, Alto Mira, Águas das Caldeiras and Planalto Norte, in addition to basic health units in almost all villages.
