Africa-Press – Cape verde. The construction of tourist infrastructure, sanitation, the recovery and maintenance of the vicinal roads network, in addition to the training of tour operators, are the major challenges directly linked to tourism in the municipality of Porto Novo.
This information is contained in a survey made by the City Hall of Porto Novo, according to which Porto Novo is facing other challenges in terms of tourism, which relate to the tourism promotion of the municipality and also the need to improve the production chain of local tourism.
With regard to the vicinal roads, the City Hall anticipates “good prospects” with regard to the recovery, later this year, of these tourist routes, thanks to a program already financed by the World Bank for the entire island of Santo Antão, in about four million euros.
For this year, municipal investments in the tourism sector are around 20 million escudos, money that will be directed towards City Hall for the tourist promotion of pilgrimage festivals, promotion of the municipality as a tourist destination, participation of the municipality in tourist fairs and for the requalification of the second phase of Curraletes beach.
