Porto Novo: Small-scale fishing conditioned by sea conditions in recent months – Fishermen

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The sea conditions due to strong winds, that occur frequently at this time of year in the municipality of Porto Novo, have conditioned the small-scale fishing in all fishing communities, according to the fishermen’s associations.

In Tarrafal, the fishermen’s Association leader, Isaías Pires, confirmed to Inforpress that small-scale fishing has been “weak” in recent months in this fishing area.

The same happens in Monte Trigo, where the local association Agripesca also announced to be “concerned”, since local fishing activity has been very conditioned, at this time of year, when it is “windy”.

In the city of Porto Novo, the president of the local fishermen’s Association, Atlermiro Neves, told Inforpress that class life has been “complicated in the last three months.”
