Africa-Press – Cape verde. Agricultural producers in Tarrafal de Monte Trigo, Santo Antão, would like to count on the Government’s support given the losses recorded in January, during a strong winds on this locality, devastating local agriculture.

The farmers’ spokesman, Graciano Évora, said the damage was “so great” that the farmers from Tarrafal de Monte Trigo would like “the Government to give them a hand” at this difficult time, in which they seek to recover their devastated plots.

This farmer told Inforpress that the situation of the class in this valley is “very complicated”, but “they are trying to get back on their feet” after bad weather in January that destroyed crops such as sugarcane, yams, cassava, among others.

Also in Martiene, farmers say they are in a “difficult situation”, as the storm destroyed the potato crop, compromising this year’s entire harvest.
