Africa-Press – Cape verde. The problem of lack of water in the Alto de São Tomé area, in Porto Novo, should be resolved “definitely” by December, guarantees the Porto Novo City Council, as part of an investment of around 20 million escudos.
“This is an investment that will definitively solve the problem of domestic water supply in Alto São Tomé”, reiterates the city council, quoted by Inforpress.
The project is being carried out by the company Águas de Ponta Preta and includes an extension of 1,500 meters with a new water network, a water pumping station and a reservoir of 200 cubic meters in altitude for gravity distribution.
With this project, drinking water will return, this year, to the taps of houses in Alto São Tomé, in the highest part of the city of Porto Novo, where more than 1,500 people live, who have faced, in recent years, a “situation of water shortage”.
