Africa-Press – Cape verde. Boston, United States, 06 Nov 2023 – Portugal, Brazil and Cape Verde will be the countries represented at the 12th Portuguese Language Literature Conference, which will take place on November 17th at the University of Massachusetts Boston (UMass Boston) under the theme “Interarts in Lusophone Literature”.
Patrícia Portela (Portugal), João Nemi (Brazil) and Shauna Barbosa (Cape Verde) are the guest writers at this conference whose primary objective is to “bring together cultures, voices and identities in common with the Portuguese language”, according to a statement sent to Lusa by João Caixinha, coordinator of Portuguese Education in the United States of America (USA).
” Every year a common theme is launched among partner and friendly countries (Portugal, Brazil and Cape Verde), so that each writer can give their personal and intimate testimony about it. What is expected is that each author can make a presentation on this topic based on his work and his personal and empirical background, in an exchange of ideas between the public and the panel “, says the note.
After the pandemic phase, this conference returns to the in-person model, proposing to reflect on what authors produce, think and how they give voice to their words in these three spaces of Lusofonia, given the idea of ”Interartes” within the literary canon .
The proposal also involves being a space for reflection, discussion and exchange, as well as an opportunity to present Portuguese-speaking literary production to a larger audience interested in exchanging information.
According to Lusa, the conference is free and open to the public and promoted by the Centro de Língua Portuguesa Camões/UMass Boston, in partnership with the Department of Ibero-Latin American Studies at UMass Boston and the Consulates General of Portugal, Brazil and Cape Green in Boston, USA.
