Africa-Press – Cape verde. The amendments to the law on foreigners in Portugal come into force today. Among other points, the diploma will facilitate the issuance of visas for Cape Verdeans and all citizens of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP).

The regulation of changes in the legal regime for the entry, stay, departure and removal of foreigners from Portuguese territory, among other aspects, determines that the granting of residence and temporary stay visas to nationals of a State in which the Agreement is in force on Mobility in the CPLP does not depend on a previous opinion from the Foreigners and Borders Services (SEF).

“Without prejudice to the granting of visas being communicated to the SEF, for the purposes of exercising its powers in terms of internal security”, justifies the Portuguese Government in the publication in the Diário da República.

With these amendments, requests for granting and renewing a residence permit submitted by nationals of CPLP member states are exempted from presenting valid travel insurance, proof of means of subsistence, copy of the return ticket. and in person presentation to apply for a visa.
