Africa-Press – Cape verde. Cape Verdean Júnior Fernandes is already in Italy to participate in the finals of the 2023 World Rowing Beach Sprint, which takes place in Barletta, from Friday, 29, to 1st of October.
Júnior Fernandes, who was in Portugal preparing to take part in the competition, told Inforpress that he didn’t know if he was going to make it, because the financial means weren’t yet guaranteed, but, according to him, thanks to the help of friends and family.
According to the athlete, one of the ways to seek financial help for travel and accommodation expenses, including the costs associated with participating in the competition, was through the fundraising website sportfunder.com, where people consider and can even contribute with whatever they can.
“My ticket was bought with these gestures of friends and family, and I thank all those who helped and those who couldn’t help. I’m very grateful to the Lisbon Naval Association, which welcomed me with great affection, and to the coaches, managers and colleagues at the club, thank you very much for your love. May I have a good participation in the World Cup in Italy”, he said.
