Africa-Press – Cape verde. The mayor of Lisbon (CML), Carlos Moedas, said this Thursday that he is working to have a Unicorn Factory in his city, but that he also aspires to take it to Cape Verde .
Taking into account this objective, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the CML, through its president, and the Government of Cabo Verde, represented by the Secretary of State for the Digital Economy, Pedro Lopes. It took place at the Cabo Verde ́s stand, at the Web Summit 2022, which happens from the November 1 to 4 in the Portuguese capital.
“The Unicorn Factory has to be, first, an audacity and an ambition, and if this factory manages to have its first connection, its first subsidiary or branch, but as an equal, because that is how I have always worked with Cape Verde.
We could do something extraordinary which was, in addition to having the Unicorn Factory here in Lisbon, we also opened a Unicorn Factory in Cape Verde”, he stressed.
This Wednesday, Carlos Moedas said at a press conference at the Web Summit, that Unicorns Factory, which are companies valued at more than one billion dollars, has already managed to attract eight international companies, noting that a year ago it presented the intention of its creation, “a central project” for the Lisbon municipality in recent months.
