Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Portuguese Embassy in Cape Verde reported today that there have been cases of detention and travel restrictions involving Portuguese citizens after airport security checks at X-ray machines, for alleged illegal possession of bladed weapons.
According to the statement, these situations have occurred because in Cape Verde, any object with a blade longer than 6 centimeters, including pocketknives, is considered an illegal bladed weapon.
The Embassy advises passengers to check, before traveling to airports in Cape Verde, that they do not possess any object that could be considered an illegal bladed weapon or any other prohibited object under Cape Verdean law, which may not coincide with Portuguese law.
