Praia City: City Council promises “new look” with the asphalting of streets in the Cidadela neighborhood
When laying the first stone, which was attended by councilors from the Praia Chamber, Francisco Carvalho stated that the work would begin “immediately” and that the completion of the first phase would take six months.
“We are going to start a process here that aims to put asphalt on all the streets in the Cidadela neighborhood. In the first phase we will cover the streets shown on the billboard and then we will continue the work in a second and third phase, until we have paved all the streets in the Cidadela”, he said, confirming that the first phase will cover more than eight streets.
Speaking about the execution of this work, Francisco Carvalho explained that the objective is to fulfill a combination of what the council team considers to be a priority for the municipality and what they consider to also be important for the residents of the neighborhood.
He also mentioned that the intention is to satisfy complaints from Cidadela residents regarding potholes in the streets where they live.
Asked about the existence of projects for other neighborhoods in the country’s capital, the mayor of Praia said that the Achada Santo António neighborhood will soon receive works to improve Rua 13 de Janeiro.
“The project is already advanced, we just need to finalize the negotiations so that we can give another dignity to this street, as well as other streets in the Achada Santo António neighborhood”, he concluded.
