
Africa-Press – Cape verde. An operation conducted this Thursday by the National Police (PN) in the area of Brazil, in Achada de Santo António and surrounding areas in Praia, resulted, among others, in three arrests and seizure of four firearms, as reported by National Police.
According to the same source, the operation was conduted by 100 agents and was headed by the National Police Central Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCIC), with the support of the Regional Command of South Santiago and Maio, the Maritime Police, the Fiscal Guard and the Intervention Force.
The same source from National Police reported that it aimed at the control, arrest, location and seizure of weapons, especially firearms that are in situations of illegal possession and may be associated with other offenses, such as assaults and social conflict between rival groups.
According to the same source, searches were carried out in 12 houses with warrants issued by a competent authority and lasted three hours, resulting in the seizure of four firearms, three of which were handmade and a conventional 6.35mm caliber, as well as several AKM rifle casings and 9mm caliber pistols, as well as 8.7grams of narcotic products, 13 knives, a machete, an axe, two baseball bat, 15 mobile phones and a laptop computer.
