Africa-Press – Cape verde. A man was detained in the city of Praia on suspicion of fraud involving passports. In total, seven passports of victims were seized, among other documents.

The 31-year-old individual was detained by the Judiciary Police, through the Central Section for the Investigation of Corruption and Economic and Financial Crime – SCICCEF – as part of the fulfillment of an arrest warrant issued by the Public Ministry, last Thursday, 26, out of flagrante delicto, in Praia.

The man, of Cape Verdean nationality, is suspected of the practice, in material authorship, in the consummated form and in actual contest of at least 9 (nine) Crimes of Scam, being 6 (six) simple and 3 (three) qualified.

Subsequently, seven ordinary passports and various documents belonging to the victims of the aforementioned crimes were found. The facts had been investigated by the Judiciary Police since 2019, in the city of Praia and in several municipalities on the island of Santiago.

Still following the fulfillment of the search, search and seizure warrant issued by the Judicial Court of the District of Praia against the

same suspect, seven packages and three “tacos” containing about 31 grams of the herb cannabis and its derivatives were found and seized.

Present, last Friday, the 27th, to the competent judicial authorities for the purpose of the first judicial interrogation of the detained defendant and application of the measure of personal coercion, the suspect was remanded in custody.
