The event, entitled “Reducing inequalities without leaving anyone and nowhere behind”, takes place from 9 am to 12:30 pm, at the United Nations building in the city of Praia and “intends to discuss the issue of inequalities, listening to the silenced experiences of the marginalized and understanding the transversal benefits that inclusion has for the whole of society”.

Encouraging creation of dialog channels
The initiative, according to a press release, aims to encourage government bodies (national and local) to institutionalize channels of dialogue with populations that tend to lag behind, as well as a horizontal plan between governments, civil society and local communities.

Public authorities (national and local), civil society organizations (community-based associations), universities, among other people interested in the issue of urban inequalities, are part of the target audience of these dialogues.

Regarding “Urban October”, this initiative was developed to “raise awareness, promote participation, generate knowledge and engage the international community in creating a better urban future.
