Africa-Press – Cape verde. Bairro de Pensamento, in Praia, now has a community library at the service of the community in general and to encourage the habit of reading, especially in children.
The library, which operates in the Community Thinking Center, will welcome children from the local elementary school and other neighboring neighborhoods, from Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 12 pm and from 2 pm to 5 pm.
This is a project organized by the Escola de Artes -“Vivartes”, in partnership with the Community Association for the Development of Thought.
The project also includes monitoring of studies and explanations for students by trained technicians from the Institute for Employment and Professional Training (IEFP).
Books from different areas were offered by the Association of Disadvantaged Children (ACRIDES), the National Library of Cape Verde (BNCV) and the EBO School of Achada Grande Trás.
The Community Library of Thought also has the support of the Ministry of Culture and Creative Industries, through the BA-Cultura program, a project that supports the association Escala Maior de Achada Eugénio Lima, from which “Vivartes” was born, on the initiative of Professor Isaiah Tavares.
It is recalled that about three years ago, the Escola de Artes Vivartes was born in the community of Pensamento, where children, teenagers and young people from the city of Praia receive free music lessons, namely guitar, drums, tomb and dance.
