Africa-Press – Cape verde. The president of Aldeias SOS Internacional, Dereje Wordofa, starts, today 15, a visit to Cape Verde with the aim of deepening and strengthening partnerships with the Government and various institutions.
During the visit to Cape Verde, which runs until the 18th of October, Dereje Wordofa will have meetings with the President of the Republic, the Minister of Family, Inclusion and Social Development as well as local partners of the organization, focusing on actions aimed at responding to the needs of the vulnerable children.
Accompanied by the National Director of SOS Children’s Villages Cape Verde, Dereje Wordofa will have, tomorrow, Sunday, 16th, meetings and socializing with children and mothers from the SOS Villages of São Domingos and Assomada, with some cultural and recreational activities planned.
This is the first visit to Cape Verde by the new president of Aldeias SOS Internacional, elected in June 2021 by the General Assembly of that organization. On this trip, Dereje Wordofa is accompanied by the international director of the African region, Mr. Benoit Piot, among other elements of the delegation.
A native of Ethiopia, Dereje Wordofa, 55, has been dedicated to humanitarian service, human development and peace. Over the course of his career he worked for various international bodies such as Oxfam and Save the Children, before joining SOS Children’s Villages as international director for the West and South Africa region.
