Africa-Press – Cape verde. The President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, today addressed his condolences to his Indonesian counterpart, Joko Widodo, for the “tragedy” that occurred at the Kanjuruhan stadium, in East Java, which caused 125 deaths.

In a statement, the Cape Verdean Head of State informed that “he has just sent to His Excellency the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr Joko Widodo, condolences and expression of his deep dismay at the tragedy that occurred at the Kanjuruhan stadium in East Java, which caused 125 deaths. dead and 323 injured, one of the deadliest in football history.”

“In this moment of sadness and national mourning, I present to Your Excellency and to the Indonesian people, on behalf of the Cape Verdean people and myself, our deepest feelings of sorrow and solidarity, extended to all the families affected by this crisis. tragedy”, reads the letter sent to Jakarta.

Remember during the last weekend, at least 125 people died in Indonesia, including 32 children, in one of the biggest catastrophes in football history, when security forces used tear gas in a packed stadium and caused a huge turmoil.
