Africa-Press – Cape verde. The President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, defended this Saturday in Porto Mosquito, in the Ribeira Grande de Santiago, it is necessary to empower communities, “with the transfer of powers and resources”, in order to “sustain themselves”.
José Maria Neves, who was speaking to the press after presiding over the commemorations of the first year of the creation of the Inferno Bay and Monte Angra Natural Park, stated that in order to achieve sustainability and sustainable communities, “we must necessarily empower localities and NGOs.”
“Where there are NGOs, associations and community development there is a history of overcoming and developing,” noted José Maria Neves, arguing that partnerships need to be mobilized to put more resources in the hands of citizens and their associations to accelerate the pace of growth of communities, islands and the country.
Regarding the work developed by the Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Lantuna in the management of the Inferno Bay and Monte Angra Natural Park, José Maria Neves noted that it is promoting greater self-esteem in the respective communities.
