Africa-Press – Cape verde. The President of the Republic of Cape Verde, José Maria Neves, congratulated today, Sunday, 24th, the people of Guinea Bissau on the occasion of the celebrations of the 50th Anniversary of the National Independence of this sister country, wishing them prosperity.
It is with “enormous satisfaction and pride” that the highest magistrate of the Cape Verdean nation addressed his congratulations to the Guinean people, renewing his wishes for prosperity and well-being.
On this important and historic date for Guinea-Bissau, but also for other Portuguese-speaking African countries, the Head of State reiterates, in a letter addressed to his counterpart from Guinea Bissau, Umaro Sissoco Embaló, his desire to “continue together to deepen the excellent bonds of friendship, solidarity, fraternity and cooperation, which, fortunately, exist between our Countries and Peoples”.
“Big win”
On behalf of the Cape Verdean people and himself, José Maria Neves promised “Peace, Well-being and Development to the brotherly country and people of Guinea-Bissau, in the coming 50 years”.
In statements to the Press, the Nation’s Highest Magistrate highlighted, this week, the “liberating gesture common to both countries”, referring to the Independence of this sister country as a great gain that boosted the revolution of April 25th and the process of democratization in Portugal and, later, the independence of Portuguese-speaking African countries.
