Africa-Press – Cape verde. The President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, travels today to the Canary Islands, for a two-day visit, to participate in the Institutional Act of Commemoration of Mandela’s Day, to take place on Monday, 18, in Tenerife.
The visit of the Head of State to the Canary Islands takes place on the occasion of the V Edition of Campus África, an event that brings together, for three weeks, Cape Verdean staff with another 200 young people from Macaronesia, for exchange and scientific exchanges, under the theme “Climate Change, Global Health and Sustainable Development: the Atlantic perspective”.
According to a note from the Presidency of the Republic, José Maria Neves will have meetings with the President of the Regional Government of the Canary Islands and with the President of the Insular Government of Tenerife, where matters related to bilateral cooperation will be discussed.
The President of the Republic will also be received at the headquarters of the City Council of La Laguna, by the Mayor and representatives of the Municipal Corporation, in a ceremony that will be attended by Cape Verdean students participating in Campus África. His agenda also includes a visit to the University Institute of Tropical Diseases and Public Health of the Canary Islands (University of La Laguna).
