Africa-Press – Cape verde. The President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, will participate from the 22nd to the 24th of this month in the 3rd edition of the Pan-African Forum for the Culture of Peace, in Luanda, which aims to promote the prevention of violence and conflicts in Africa.

According to Inforpres, which cites the press release from the head of the Cape Verdean state, the event is promoted by the President of the Republic of Angola, João Lourenço, as Champion of Peace and Reconciliation for the African Union, in conjunction with the Organization of Nations United Nations for Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO).

The Luanda Biennial, which will take place under the motto “ Education, Culture of Peace and African Citizenship as Tools for the Sustainable Development of the Continent ”, highlights the note, aims to promote the prevention of violence and conflicts, through cultural exchange between African countries and intergenerational dialogue.

The forum brings together youth representatives from several African countries to debate with political leaders the current challenges facing the African continent.

“ Among these leaders are, in addition to Presidents João Lourenço and José Maria Neves, the acting president of the African Union, Azali Assoumanin, several former African Heads of State, namely from Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya and Malawi, in addition to of the former President of Mozambique and current advisor to the African Union, Joaquim Chissano ”, the note reads.

Still according to the same source, the aforementioned forum also includes the participation of the deputy director general of UNESCO, Xing Qu, and other officials from UNESCO and the African Union, as well as government officials and Angolan civil society, artistic community and scientific, as well as international organizations.

The program features six high-level panels on diverse topics such as the role of young people in promoting a culture of peace, technology and education as tools to achieve gender equality, the role of women in peace, security and development processes, the transformation of educational systems, innovative financing in the African context, prospects for economic growth and the challenges of climate change, says Inforpress.
