Africa-Press – Cape verde. The President of the Republic proposed this Sunday the creation of a Local and Regional Development Fund, which would function as an autonomous agency to finance the development of municipalities.
José Maria Neves launched this challenge when he gave his speech at the ceremony commemorating the 28th anniversary of the municipality of São Domingos, a date that marks the inauguration of the then nstalling Committee of the municipality.
“I take this opportunity to propose the creation of a Local and Regional Development Fund, which would have the purpose of granting greater financial autonomy to municipalities in relation to the Government. Such a Fund, to be endowed with resources from the Environment Fund, Tourism Fund, Road Maintenance Fund, concessional loans and others, would function as an autonomous agency for financing the development of municipalities”, he suggested.
