Africa-Press – Cape verde. The President of the Republic (PR) fulfills, from this Monday until Wednesday, 16, an agenda of visits and meetings in the Municipality of Praia, both at institutional and community level. The visit falls within the framework of what José Maria Neves calls the “Presidency of proximity”.
The visit is based, according to a statement from the Presidency of the Republic, on the principle of dialogue with local authorities and on the defense of strengthening the autonomy and capacity of local authorities.
Thus, this Monday, the agenda begins with a courtesy visit to the Municipality of Praia, meeting with Mayor Francisco Carvalho and the entire city council team, with a view to “inquiring into the day-to-day management of the largest municipality of the country, the advances and challenges”.
Also within the same scope, the PR will tour the decentralized services of the City Council, namely the Extension Center for City Council Services at Praia Shopping, the Technical Building at the Farm, Fire and Civil Protection Services, as well as the Action Services Social, Associativism, Environment and Sanitation, at Parque 5 de Julho.
The afternoon will be dedicated to business and entrepreneurship, with visits to the Chamber of Commerce and to some private projects.
Second day dedicated to education and sport
Tomorrow, Tuesday, the 15th, the day will be dedicated to education, with a visit to the Liceu Pedro Gomes, in Achada de Santo António, where there will also be a meeting with the directors of all the high schools in the capital.
Afterwards, José Maria Neves will meet with the Cape Verdean Olympic Committee and with federations, clubs and sports associations.
Also on Tuesday, the head of state visits the solar system project in Ponta d ́Água, the Castelão Day Center, as well as the town of São Francisco, the communities of Achada Mato (Água Funda) and Achada Grande Frente , culminating in a meeting with association leaders and community development organizations, at “Pilorinho”.
“The third and last day of the visit, Wednesday, 16, remains social and inclusive, with visits to the Plateau Market, but also to the community of São Martinho, as well as to Cenorf – National Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Center. Functional and to ADEVIC – Association of the Visually Impaired of Cape Verde, both in the morning”, indicates the Presidency of the Republic.
The program will end in the afternoon with a visit to the community of Tira Chapéu, to the Casa para Todos development, Class A, in Vila Vitória and with a meeting with cultural agents, at Parque 5 de Julho.
