Africa-Press – Cape verde. The President of the Republic today urged young pilgrims from the Diocese of Santiago to be inspired by the messages of Pope Francis and adequately represent Cabo Verde at the XXVIII Edition of World Youth Day (WYD) in Portugal.

José Maria Neves launched this challenge in statements to the press, at the end of a meeting with the delegation of the Diocesan Youth Secretariat, on the eve of the trip by the Cape Verdean delegation to the XXVIII Edition of World Youth Day, to be held in Lisbon from 1 to 6 August.

“They will represent Cape Verde, I hope they will represent Cabo Verde with dignity that it will be a great meeting Pope Francis has been inspiring for the world, but above all for the youth. I hope that these young people can be inspired by the Pope’s messages and in Cabo Verde, with this inspiration, they can later help CaboVerde to be a much more fraternal society and with more friendship in accordance with the Pope’s words”, he declared.

The President of the Republic reminded the young people participating in the said journey that they are Cabo Verde’s ambassadors in this event and that they should share with other young people in the country, when they return, their experiences and knowledge acquired in the journey.
