The president of the Court of Auditors announced today that the report on the audit of the Presidency of the Republic to clarify data on the payment of the first lady’s salary will be completed in March.João da Cruz Silva, who was speaking to the press after presenting New Year’s greetings to the President of the Republic José Maria Neves, assured that the process is in the preparation phase.
According to him, the audit is currently with the area judge and is waiting for the General Inspectorate of Finance (IGF) to finish its action at the Presidency so that the Court of Auditors can then take action.
“The process is not very complex and I think that by March at the latest we will have the report approved”, he pointed out.
The case of the first lady’s payment by the Presidency of the Republic came to the public on December 18th and on December 23rd, 2023, through a statement to the Nation, the President of the Republic ordered to suspend the processing of salaries, the use of transportation, security and other perks for the First Lady, until these matters were “definitely and fully” regulated by law and requested the Court of Auditors and the General Inspectorate of Finance for a statement on the matter.
The president of the Court of Auditors, in a statement to the press, on December 28, announced an audit of the Presidency of the Republic to clarify the data on the payment of the first lady’s salary.
On January 3rd, the General Inspectorate of Finance (IGF) announced that, by resolution of the Minister of Finance and Business Development, an inspection action would be carried out on the Presidency of the Republic, following the controversy over the salary of first lady.
