Africa-Press – Cape verde. In year-on-year terms, import price indices increased by 18.9% in March this year compared to the same period in 2021, the INE advanced this Friday, 22.

According to the same source, the prices of imported products increased by 3.1% in March this year, 0.1 percentage points (pp) higher than in the previous month (February 2022).

The data also show that, in March, the import price index stood at 109.7, having registered an increase of 3.1% compared to the previous month. On the other hand, the underlying and volatile indices in imports increased by 2.6% and 4.3%, respectively, compared to the previous month (February).

The increase in prices, according to INE, occurred in all group categories: “Consumer Goods” (3.5%) and is justified by the rise in prices of “primary food products” (3.3%), ” Intermediate Goods” (1.6%), and is explained, essentially, by the rise in prices of “processed products for construction” (3.3%). Also, an increase in “Capital goods” (3.5%), which is justified by the rise in prices of “cars for private use” (10.2%) and “Fuel” (3.3%), justified, according to the data, with the rise of the only subcategory called “Fuel” (3.3%).

In year-on-year terms, import price indices increased by 18.9% compared to March 2021.

Compared to March 2021, the underlying and volatile import indices also recorded increases of 18.2% and 21.0%, respectively.

Export price index

Regarding Export Price Indices, in March 2022, the export price index stood at 102.7%, corresponding to an increase of 0.5% compared to the previous month.

Also, last March, the underlying export index increased by 0.7% and the volatile index decreased by 0.1%, compared to the previous month.

In year-on-year terms, in March of this year, the year-on-year rate of change in the export price index stood at 5.1% and, compared to March 2021, the underlying and volatile export indices increased by 6.1%. % and 2.4% respectively.

Terms of Exchange Indexes

It should also be noted that last March, the Terms of Trade Index (ITT) stood at 93.6%, registering a decrease of 2.5%, compared to the previous month. In year-on-year terms, the Terms of Trade Index (ITT) stood at -11.6%.
