Africa-Press – Cape verde. The São Nicolau Regional Football Association (ARFSN), in partnership with the Tarrafal City Council, will compete to host the final of the 2023/24 Cape Verde championship, the association’s president announced today.
Carlos Vieira, who was speaking to Inforpress, highlighted that the “successful” holding of the Cape Verde Super Cup last Saturday, 24th, showed once again that the island has “all the conditions” to host major sporting events at national level.
According to him, the candidacy dossier for the Orlando Rodrigues Stadium to host the final of the national championship is already being worked on, so he promises to do “everything” to bring this competition to the island.
“We have been showing that it is possible to hold large events, even though we are on an island that does not have large hotels or large restaurants, but all the people who come here return satisfied”, he highlighted.
The Orlando Rodrigues Stadium, in the city of Tarrafal, hosted the Cape Verde Super Cup on Saturday, 25th, after having hosted the Inter Ilhas football final in 2019, and again there was a huge flood of people at the stadium.
Which, according to Carlos Vieira, demonstrates “the love” that the people of São Nicolau have for football and that they always attend the stadiums in large numbers.
