Africa-Press – Cape verde. The community of Ribeira de Vinha, in São Vicente, has, as of today, November 1st, a public bus line, resulting from the efforts of the pastoral center, groups and local associations.
According to information from the promoters, quoted by Inforpress, the objective was achieved after the pastoral center of the community and other associations and local groups met to discuss a set of problems that the area, essentially agricultural, faced, looking for solutions together.
“In the whole list of needs, public transport was chosen as a priority, to unlock and remove the area from isolation”, explained the same source, adding that this decision was expressed through the collection of signatures.
Equated reimbursement
In this way, they added, they got in touch with the person in charge of the bus company Transporte Colectivo Amizade, who agreed to put a bus on the line, which should start operations from today.
However, the population, on its own initiative, decided to create a transport co-payment fund in the event of poor initial passenger adherence and with a view to the continuity of the service.
Ribeira de Vinha is a predominantly agricultural town, located about three kilometers south of the city of Mindelo.
