Ribeira Grande de Santiago: Delegation of Education wants to “zero school dropout rates ” in the municipality

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Education delegate of Ribeira Grande de Santiago, Ernestina Rocha, expressed today the intention of “zero the school dropout rate” in the municipality, which currently remains below 1.5 percent (%).

Ernestina Rocha was speaking to Inforpress on the sidelines of the welcoming ceremony for the 2023/2024 academic year, which took place at Escola Secundária of Salineiro, with a view to greeting teachers, particularly those transferred.

“I leave here a message of great confidence, our municipality has been a reference at national level in terms of education and this year we mainly aim to increase the pass rate and reduce school dropout rates to 0%”, stressed the person in charge.

According to the representative, this school year, which begins on Monday 18th, the municipality of Ribeira Grande de Santiago has 125 teachers spread across the four school groups, serving an estimated 1,655 students from first to 12th year of school, in addition to the preschool children in the municipality.
