Sal: Fishermen “happy and more confident” to go out to sea in fiberglass boats

Africa-Press – Cape verde. Fishermen from the town of Palmeira, in Sal, said today they were “happy and more confident” to take to the sea in vibrating boats, which were handed over today by the Minister of the Sea, Abraão Vicente.

A group of four fishermen from the town of Palmeira received their boats, which had already been fibre-plated, thus giving them “more stability” during their fishing trip, with the support of the Ministry of the Sea.

In total, there are 12 artisanal fishing vessels on the island that must go through this fibering process, financed “fully” by the Ministry of the Sea, through the Autonomous Fisheries Fund, worth more than one million contos.

In his speech on the occasion, Abraão Vicente explained that this is a project to fiber boats, throughout the country, legal and carrying out economic activity, in order to provide safety and working conditions for seafarers and their families.
