
Africa-Press – Cape verde. The executive director of the Association of Energy Regulators of Portuguese Speaking Countries (RELOP) recognized this Thursday that it is essential that regulators have the capacity and technical means to carry out their work in a transparent and independent manner.
Artur Trindade made these considerations during the closing act of the XIV Annual RELOP Conference, dedicated to the “ Integration of energy vectors ”, which took place this Thursday, in the city of Santa Maria.
“ We discovered that it is essential that regulators have the capacity and technical means to be able to do a good job independently, transparently and, thus, better defend the interests of consumers ”, he said.
The person in charge considered that it is “ very important ” that these institutions have some cooperation at a global level to exchange experiences and disseminate the best practices that each one has, so that they can provide a better service to the economy and the country.
Artur Trindade also highlighted that to face the context of energy transition, “ it is essential to be able to attract investments ”, that is, regulators must “ design regulatory strategies, looking at consumers, at the need to decarbonize society, but finding frameworks that are able to guarantee investments” .
