Santiago Norte: Saleswomen say they are experiencing difficult days and ask for government intervention in terms of support to guarantee a livelihood
Speaking to Inforpress, Anália Semedo said that they are experiencing “difficult and dark times”, as the products are at high prices, customers do not have the purchasing power to do so, which puts the sellers’ livelihood at risk.
“The products are at high prices, the standard of living is expensive and there is no money, our customers have lost their purchasing power and as a result we are having difficulties in reselling the products to honor our commitments with suppliers and also make some gains for ourselves. the livelihood of the house”, revealed this saleswoman.
According to the same source, this year hope was even raised with the rain that fell in previous months, but with this change in temperature everything became uncertain, with some rain being necessary in October to guarantee better production and thus have a price drop. in national products, but if this does not happen, it predicts an increasingly complicated situation.
In the same place we met Isabel Borges who also lamented this situation, reinforcing that, in addition to vegetables, she also sells fish and other products, but has had more losses than gains, as not every day she is lucky enough to sell something, even if you go door-to-door on the streets with a bathtub on your head.
In fact, she highlighted that at this moment she is afraid of taking products to resell because, often, the loss exceeds the investment and with so many responsibilities, including children to support, commitments to school and health, being the priority areas highlighted by her in In terms of education, it calls for greater attention from government entities, in order to seek a form of support for this class.
Luísa Gonçalves lamented the current situation and said she feared that, later on, the situation could become more complicated, which is why she asked the Government to take timely measures so that later on this class would not be “suffocated” more than is already there.
“We need help, support from the Government so that we can buy the products and with the sale, even if small, we do not have to return the money to the owners and so, after the sale we can even buy new products to resell and try to make some profit in this way. and honor commitments”, he defended, reinforcing that by taking products and then handing over the money they cannot see any income, but at this moment this is the only alternative.
This situation is the reality of all sellers in the market, even those who have agricultural properties where they regret the “sudden” change in temperature and scenery this year, dashing all the hopes that not only farmers, but all Cape Verdeans had already had a chance to have a different agricultural year, which would change many lives.
