Santa Catarina do Fogo councilor Adileuza Montrond told Inforpress that the festivities began on May 6th and lasted until May 13th, the day dedicated to Our Lady of Fátima.
At a sporting level, in addition to the youth and senior men’s futsal tournament with the involvement of teams from various locations and the friendship tournament between teams from the south and north of the municipality, cycling, athletics (men’s and women’s) and paralympic competitions are planned. for children with special educational needs.
The cycling event takes place today, departing from Brandão, in the municipality of São Filipe, and arriving in the community of Roçadas, while the men’s athletics event, which takes place on Saturday, May 10th, will start in the town of Patim (São Filipe) and the women’s race starting in the community of Fonte Aleixo Sul.
It is also planned to hold a quadrangular men’s football tournament with the participation of teams from Fonte Aleixo Sul, Roçadas, Figueira Pavão and Monte Vermelho, and in the women’s category with teams from Roçadas, Achada Furna, Tinteira and Beira Mar from the city of Cova Figueira, as well as table games.
At a cultural level, the highlight is the dance with bands “Bem de far” and “Riba de hora” and artists such as Timas, Dimas Fernandes, Cando, David Veiga. Miká Oliver, R Love and Steve One, but also other cultural activities such as theater and dance sessions in the Roçadas community square.
The religious activity will take place in the restored chapel of Nossa Senhora de Fátima de Roçadas.
In addition to Roçadas, the communities of Fajãzinha, in the municipality of Mosteiros, and Ponta Verde in the municipality of São Filipe celebrate May 13th with various religious, cultural and sporting activities.
